The Joy School prepares students with learning differences to return to traditional classroom settings by enabling them to reach their academic and social potential in a safe, supportive environment. We serve children with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, expressive/receptive language disorders, motor and spatial skills issues, executive functioning issues and more.
We focus on meeting the unique needs of students who, although intellectually capable, often have great difficulty finding success in a traditional school environment. Classes are made up of 6-8 students who are grouped based on their abilities.
The Joy School strives to provide the remediation, accommodation and resources students need to first address existing academic deficits and then begin the process for returning to a mainstream school. In other words, teachers at TJS fix what they can fix and provide strategies for the rest. Most of our kids go on to become quite successful at traditional private and public schools after leaving The Joy School.
The feedback we hear most often from parents is that we helped them “Get our child back”.
